If you received a letter from us regarding a Notice of Federal Tax Lien, you should be aware that liens are a matter of public record. The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office makes available on a daily basis all Federal tax liens filed by the IRS. If you are uncertain where a tax lien has been filed, you can go to the IRS and request a copy of an account transcript for every year you owe. If a lien has been filed it will be listed on the account transcript. Liens will also be listed on your credit report. Many clients are unaware that a lien has been filed until they try to borrow for a home or vehicle.
